What an honour it is to be working with the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur as they have committed to deep, connected learning, and to creating a better future for all through their learning program. They asked Compass Education if we could help train leadership in creating next steps moving forward for a whole school commitment to education for a sustainable future. I was lucky enough to be asked to help and have very much enjoyed working with this passionate and committed team. I listened Monday morning as their sustainability team gave a talk about where they have come from and where they hope to go. I gave a 45 minute talk on what could be possible and the ability we all have to tackle complexity, which both benefits learning and leads to inspiring action by students and community members. I was very impressed by what they have already accomplished and am excited to see where this team takes it from here.

The level of commitment is impressive as I then spent two days with senior leadership, including board members moving towards their goals. With more schools making this greater commitment it is very encouraging for the future of our planet, our interconnected systems and our very wellbeing.

 

 

 

 

With the time we spent together we have aimed to:

  1. Conceptually understand sustainability, systems, mental models and change theory
  2. Build a toolbox of facilitation techniques and systemic tools to tackle complexity towards finding leverage points for change.
  3. Formulate strategic next steps for meeting their very worthy goal of education for a sustainable future.
